We've updated the Netspark Content Filtering interface to make managing protection settings easier and more intuitive.
Categories and apps are now displayed together in a single view, allowing you to see exactly how your protection settings affect the apps installed on your device.
This change is designed to provide clearer, more accurate filtering options and simplify content management.
Previously, categories and apps were managed separately.
Now, each category can be expanded to display the apps that belong to it.
For example:
Search Engines & Browsers
Chrome
Firefox
Edge
Opera
This allows you to manage both category settings and app settings from the same screen.
As part of this update, Netspark only displays protection levels that are actually supported for a specific app or category.
This means you may see fewer protection level options than before.
Previously, some protection levels could appear even when they had no practical effect on that app or category.
Now, only protection levels that can actually be applied are shown.
This helps ensure that every option you see has a real impact on filtering and protection.
For certain apps or categories, you may only see:
No Filter
Block All
if those are the only protection options that are supported.
This is expected behavior and not a system issue.
Apps can now automatically follow the protection level assigned to their category.
When an app has not been individually configured, it will display:
Use Category Protection Level
This means the app inherits the same protection level as its category.
If the Social Networking category is set to Moderate Protection, apps within that category will automatically use the same protection level unless you choose a different setting for a specific app.
If an app already has its own custom setting, you can select Use Category Protection Level to return it to the category's default protection.
Some protection levels use browser-based filtering instead of the native app experience.
When you select a protection level that requires browser redirection, Netspark will display a message explaining what will happen before saving the change.
This notification helps you understand how the selected protection level will affect the app experience.
Some social media apps may open through a filtered browser experience at certain protection levels in order to provide stronger filtering and protection.
The filtering system now displays only the protection levels that are supported and effective for that specific app or category.
No. This is an intended improvement and not a bug.
No. This update does not reduce protection. It simply improves how protection options are displayed.
The app is currently following the protection level assigned to its category.
Some protection levels use browser-based filtering. The message explains how the selected protection level will affect that app.
The new Content Filtering interface is designed to:
Make content management easier
Show categories and apps together
Display only relevant protection levels
Provide clearer filtering options
Explain when browser-based filtering will be used
These changes help ensure that every protection setting you see is meaningful, accurate, and effective.
